Mission Statement
Gesu Catholic School provides a stimulating and challenging education in a safe, Christ-centered community, where our children develop all their God-given talents, both for their own enrichment and for the benefit of God's human family and creation.
Because Gesu School is a Catholic institution first and foremost, we;
- focus on the Gospel message of Jesus Christ as our primary reason for being;
- respect diversity among religions
Recognizing that a Catholic school is both a teaching community and a worship community, we;
- follow the example of Christ fostering the dignity, self-esteem, and integrity of each person;
- provide opportunities for students and teachers to reflect on their personal and communal spirituality and to enhance their awareness of the call to justice, freedom, reconciliation and celebration.
Recognizing that teaching and learning must be the focus of any school, we;
- provide a stimulating and challenging curriculum that links faith with culture;
- strive to educate the "whole child" in spiritual, intellectual, and emotional formation.
Because we serve our students, we work to;
- address all the styles in which children may learn and facilitate appropriate placement where necessary;
- create a safe, loving, and accepting learning environment;
- encourage high standards of performance and Christian behavior.
Because excellent teachers are a critical part of classroom learning, we work to;
- develop and implement programs to retain skilled and committed teachers
- support our teachers through ongoing professional development opportunities.
Because our schools work in conjunction with our parishes and with our larger community, we;
- promote an active partnership and sense of community in our parents, students, teachers, administrators, staff and volunteers.
Because access to technology is a critical component of twenty-first century classrooms;
- we seek opportunities for use of new technology to expand learning;
- promote and support effective teaching in a media-rich environment.
Because ministry with our students is a community effort, we;
- see Christian community service as a necessary extension of Catholic social teaching and an integral part of our religious and academic instruction.
Because we believe that any interested family should be able to find a place for its children in a Catholic school;
- we are engaged in long-term planning that addresses future growth and financial needs
- support parents in their efforts and provide opportunities for them to participate in the school community.
Because we know that effective leadership holds itself accountable for successful schools, we;
- encourage strategic leadership and management practices at all levels to organize learning according to recognized models.
